REVIVALS IN UGANDA
REVIVALS IN UGANDA (A Summary of an History Update by Rev Isaiah Kalemeera Lutaaya to Ev Duncan Mugalu)
Since the 1960s To Date; the Nation of Uganda has been a Breeding Ground for Transformational Revivals.
Revivals in the Nation of Uganda Begun as a result of Missionaries that were sent to Uganda from Kenya by Elim Missionary Assemblies which later on became the Assemblies of God - Uganda. The Revival in Kenya was a result of Missionaries sent by God to Start the East African Revival from Glad Tidings in Vancouver, Canada.
Uganda having been found to be Fertile Ground for the Gospel due to the Heart Condition and Hospitality of the People; The Missionaries sought to Establish a direct Connection of Missions direct from Vancouver to Entebbe and Kampala then the Main Cities of the Nation through the "Gospel Mission to Uganda" Outreach which Later became the Renown "Full Gospel" which also is known as the Gugude Revival which is a result of the Song by a then Famous Singer by the Names of Kawalya. The Word Gugude defines "The Burden of Sin that is Fallen from the Soul of a Man that comes to Christ Jesus".
The Fruits of the Revival Fire that was experienced in the 1960s took Effect and much Influence within the Social, Cultural, Economical and all Spheres of Human Life in the Central Kingdom of Uganda (Buganda) where the Sister of the King then gave her Life to the Lord and Highly Promoted its Spread and Establishment at the Heart of the Nation and thereby Extended its arm to the rest of the parts of the Nation and even to the entire East African community.
Among the Revivals, there have been Several Characters realised and reported but within each Move of God as not limited to Multiple Salvation of Souls, Healings, Great Miracles, Signs, Wonders and Life Transformations; We have experienced a Specific Trait that has come out more Clearer than the Others. Within the Revival of the 1960s; Uganda Experienced a Massive forsaking of Worship of Idols and of allegience to soccery and practices of witchracft as many listened and accepted the Message Call to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and enterance into the Kingdom of God and of Light.
The Revival that Started in the 1960s Spread on towards the 1970s until Religion lifted its ugly arm by seeking to put a Stop to the Spiritual Wild Fire Awakening by Use of the Political support. This was experienced through the then dictator Iddi Amin Dada who also was a great ally to the Islamic Nations in Upper Africa and parts of the Arab World.
During the 1970s, Revival became more an activity of the Underground because of the much Persecution of the Believers, Nonetheless the Fire Continued on burning in the Hearts of Many who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, A Fire that couldn't be quenched irrespective of the Harsh treatments and intimidations that were constantly hurled upon those that called on the Name of the Lord on behalf of the Land.
Towards the End of the 1970s with the overthrow of the dictator president Iddi Amin Dada in 1978-1979 the Nation through much Prayer and Intercession experienced another Special Visitation of God's Grace, Power and Deliverance with untold of Miracles, Signs and Wonders at a daily basis as believers fellowshiped and Prayed for the Various Needs and for the Stability of the Nation. A Prophet of God then known as Obiri Yeboah from the Nation of Ghana upon Divine command and commission spark such a Move of God with which much of its fruit are still experienced to this day. The Revival that was experienced in the Late 1970s towards the Mid 1980s was much to do with God's Purposes for the Nation as a whole. Many Family and Community Prayer Altars and Fellowships where established in that cause. The Country Experienced a Real Transformation through this very time of Revival in which Wars in various parts of the Nation ceased; the Scourge of HIV defeated at a relatively impressive rate and Stability and Restoration within the Nation as a whole realised. Many Pentecostal Churches sprouted which led to many souls coming to the Knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
REVIVALS FROM 1990s TO DATE:
Uganda has had such a Long Journey through the Experiences of Revival, therefore what we are Today and Hope to become in the Future has everything to do with What we have already Experienced before.
The Message for Today is a Call to the Church and the Nation at Large to come to a level of Seeking to Find and thus develop a Greater Relationship with their Maker above any Material Blessings that we may desire. God is calling on us to a level of Being aware of His Presence and thus be fulfilled in His Original Divine Plan and Purposes for us as Individuals; Families; Communities; The Church and the Nation as a whole. IT'S A REVIVAL OF "KNOWING HIM AND MAKING HIM KNOWN"
Philippians 3:8-10.
8 More than that, I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God on the basis of faith. 10 I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to Him in His death, 11 so that I may somehow attain to the resurrection from the dead.
